Child and Family Services

Child and Family Services

Child and Family Services exist to protect and support children in the NWT and to encourage families to be strong and healthy.

Voluntary Support Services Agreements are meant to help your family when there is no other help available from family, friends or other community services.

Child and Family Services Committees assist the Government of the Northwest Territories in making decisions about children and families. They work together with Child Protection Workers, children and families facing child protection issues.

Information for Young People is available to help young people understand their rights and the services they may access.

Children in the NWT are protected through the Child and Family Services Act. The following brochures provide more information about child protection:

If you have other questions about services for children and families in the NWT, please call your local Health and Social Services Authority.
